Slow Torture

1 to 2-day workshops with Saara Rei

I guess I feel so tortured most of the time, when I see someone else feeling tortured, I get a little perverse glee out of it.”

- Tim Burton

This workshop is for those who carry a genuine desire to torture, or to be tortured.

Philosophically, when such a desire exists, it could be claimed that it comes with an unspoken goal: to reach a place where the torture feels real - both physically and emotionally. But there’s a paradox at the heart of this practice. We seek to explore suffering willingly and consensually, without causing lasting harm. This is the razor’s edge of this kind of edge play - and the central question becomes: How do we find it without falling off?

The key lies in working together to establish a deliberate, shared pace. One that gradually and consciously deepens the dynamic until the person being tortured reaches a crossroads: submit to the will of the torturer - or end the session. This journey is not about brute force. In fact, force can easily break the connection or override consent, which defeats the purpose. Instead, we will explore more nuanced tools: breath, balance, restriction of movement, and - perhaps most importantly - time.

By creating spaciousness within the session, we give the tortured person the ability to fully process what is happening and make empowered, embodied choices: to surrender, to resist, or to stop. We also give the torturer the time to savor, observe, and play.

This workshop is strongly recommended only for those who are sincerely drawn to the psychological and physical dynamics of torture. Without that authentic desire, it’s impossible to reach this edge safely or meaningfully - and attempting to do so risks violating your own boundaries or those of others.

If you come with genuine intent, this can be a deeply powerful space to explore the raw, confronting beauty of consensual cruelty.
